Fuel Pump Hogs

I try to get into Pilots, Flying J's etc when travelling long distance. Most of these places also sell food, snacks, t-shirts etc.....my pet peeve is the bozos who leave their vehicle at the pump after fueling so they can get coffee, go to the bathroom etc. I've had it happen everywhere from DC to to Arizona. Also, I wonder why the folks running the place don't post signs and make occasional announcements on the PA system. Just goes to show you can't fix stupid.

Everywhere we fuel up we need to go inside an leave the credit card or they shut off the pump after $100.00 is pumped. That means 2 trips inside and waiting in line each time.

I have more of a problem with the people that come in from the opposite direction and part grill to grill with me. I have to wait until they are done pumping gas to get out of the way for the next person to use the pump I have finished using. I have sat for 10 minutes waiting for some gal to take care of business and get done and move her car.

If we see they are hogging the pump while shopping or whatnot we go around and wait, at the pump nose to nose. We go in and shop or use the bathroom and browse the CBs etc. We look out the door and go back to fuel up when they leave. Might as well shop at the same time they do so nobody is inconvenienced. 🙂

This has an easy fix. You have 2 choices,1 wait your turn or 2 go elsewhere. While on the subject How about establishing a thread for the moaners and groaners and their mindless rants.

This is really a pet peeve for me, not so much when towing, but the rest of the time. Everybody gripes about the price of gas, but just try to get to a pump at Quik Trip:)

Me too. As soon as I'm done (and if there are others waiting) I'm gone from the pump. Monopolizing a diesel pump is uncool.

This is not exactly a pump story but it does illustrate the impatience of some folks.

We were leaving Zion NP and stopped at the dump station on the way out. After dumping we pulled forward to load some potable water. We had the toad attached so we were still rather long and impinging on the spot where you'd want to be to dump.

Well the guy behind me decides he's in such a hurry that me loading water is going to ruin his vacation. He pulls up behind me, hooks up his dookie tube, stretches it like a banjo string and just makes it to the hole. You can imagine what happened when he pulled the valve on the black tank....Poo Party!!! I could barely contain my laughter. Needless to say he had to spend a bunch of time not dumping and cleaning up a mess. There are some jobs that should not be rushed and dumping the black tank is right at the top of that list.
