proxim2022's post reinforces what I have been thinking all along: if you have no other choice than to turn around, it can be done in less space by backing up first. By backing, if you can get a 90-degree angle with the trailer (some of us can, anyway), the rest is back-and-forth with the tow vehicle. That's hard on trailer tires, but there was no other choice.
