X2 works great for us.
x3 for me. If i'm leaving on a trip where I think i'll need a lot of propane, I pull "in use" cylinder off the rig and get it topped off. regulator switches to the other tank automatically.
Only rarely have I used both 20# cylinders without noticing the red flag on the regulator. in that case, the 20# cylinder for the barbecue gets mounted up.
