No question now about Hurricane Irma. If you have an RV, please don't make the mistake of being a hero-pack up and get the heck out of the storm at any cost. Just to inform readers that severe damage to RV's will hurt us all through higher insurance rates spread over policy holders. If you delay, you will regret sitting in traffic when you could be comfortable away in some safe place. If you stay, very good chance your RV and maybe you home will be shredded. I know from reading these RV forums, that this has been said before. Please be Smart and safe.

Leaving in the a.m. Gas station near me has run out of gas, others are limiting it to 10 gals. I am just NE of Tampa. Small town. Will try to stay off I-75 if I can.

Did not mean any disrespect. I base this on personal knowledge. When a named storm on the east coast hit years ago, some boat owner did nothing to protect their boats. These people experienced total losses with their boats. The people that did take some precautions had less or no damage. My boat insurance rate went up a lot, and I live on the west coast. Just saying

Leaving in the a.m. Gas station near me has run out of gas, others are limiting it to 10 gals. I am just NE of Tampa. Small town. Will try to stay off I-75 if I can.

I would leave now. The longer you wait the worse the traffic even on the back roads. Do you think you are the only one who is going to use back roads because I-75 is plugged up?

No explaination needed or apology either. Insurance companies are in business to make money, not loose money so premiums go up based on risk percentage. How it works. far as getting out, I'm not there anyway. If I was and could not physically leave with my RV, I'd catch a plane and leave it. It's only a material possession, not my life.

It's almost too late now.

When I posted for everybody to get out yesterday it was clear sailing and most stations had fuel. Now it's pretty much clogged up and stations are running out of fuel.

The window is closing REAL fast!

Whether anyone leaves or not, insurance rates will go up anyway. It doesn't matter what state is having the disaster. You won't be the lone ranger.

Bet your booty after the insurance companies get done paying for all the Houston damage ALL of our rates will go up. Car, RV, House, Boat, motorcycle insurance all of them will skyrocket.

I am not evacuating, I am staying. Please don't hate me! :B

I don't hate you. But, I disagree with you. If you could leave I think you should have. But, many people can't. Jobs, and such get in the way. My best wishes to you. It might turn out to all be fine this time But, next time it may not.
