Good News/Fun News- what's your story?

We're hosting at Escalante Petrified Forrest State Park in Escalante, Utah and love it here. We're a small campground with 22 sites, 7 with W&E. Also, we can accommodate 5 or more in a no hookup overflow area. A young traveller from Germany exploring & sleeping in a rental car locked his keys and all his things in his car. It was almost dark when we got the knock on the door for assistance/ideas. Escalante is very small and nothing close, so I loaned him my phone and Alamo Car Rental was able to find help about 80 miles away. Help arrived a little after 11:00 PM. While waiting we invited him inside to wait. We had a Wonderful conversation sharing & learning about him and his travel and his home in Germany. He was embarrassed about it and it was costly for the late hour service; we tried to soften it a bit for him and enjoyed the evening.

  • Thanks for sharing, we get a bad rap frequently but Americans can be warm and friendly people. I had a flat tire on my TT one time out in the middle of nowhere and a nice young man stopped and helped me out. Restored some faith in the goodness of people. I know there are many bad people looking to take advantage and they get all the notice but there are many more who quietly do good on a routine basis.
  • Thanks for being a camp host. Our family apreciates camp hosts so much. The unapreciated heroes of most all our camp trips. At times a tough job.
  • One thing I have come across is that RV rental places do not give out enough information or at least a manual of some kind on the use of an RV. Have taught a lot of guests from overseas and even people here from this country. RVing101.

I have met some super great people when workamping.
