Good Samaritans

Question

Coming back from NOVA last night the MH ran out of battery power left my DH on the side of the road.  Good Sam Roadside Assistance sent help. Jumped battery and sent him down the road with a warning that the alternator needed replacing.  He made it about 25 miles, coasted off the interstate exit ramp and slept the night. Today called Good Sam again.  They had problems finding someone to send.  Finally,  was going to send someone with new battery. $90 to install battery!  At that time someone came to the MH from a church that he had stopped in front of.  This man looked and found that the belt to the alternator was missing.  Took DH into the church where they were serving a fellowship brunch. They are feeding him.  The helpful man has gone home to research where they can get an alternator belt to help fix it.  I am waiting to hear how this all goes down.  People are good.  It doesn't hurt that he ended up in front of a church with great people.  I fill in more when he gets home.

And the GS guy did not notice that the alternator belt was missing ??Perfect timing for the stop at the church.There are a lot of good folks out there ready and able to give a hand when needed.

Update;  Mr. Tom. 'Darling' (sp)  near Richmond, Virginia is the wonderful man who was able to find a belt and new battery.  They are working on it now.  Giving up your Sunday for a total stranger,  what a great guy.  Restlesswind, no the guy did not notice the belt.  I am going to be gracious and say that it was at night.  What with the generous help we are getting I can afford to be gracious.

$90 for battery is pretty average in my area. Too bad they didn't notice the missing belt. Glad it worked out for him.

My parents got stranded on the side of the road in their car in the mountains enjoying a day of joyriding. In the middle of nowhere. On a Sunday! A guy stopped, and happened to be a mechanic. Opened the hood, found the problem, drove to his shop, got the part and fixed dad's car right then and there. No charge he said. WHAT! Dad said this is not payment for your time which I appreciate, but payment for the parts. And of course he overpaid for those parts HAHA Very nice man in the middle of nowhere helping out 2 older people and asked for nothing on a Sunday. it doesn't get any better than that :)

I am glad he found help with good people.

Jaygee, the battery wasn't $90.00...installing it was. The battery was extra.
Update; Ross Jenkins has come to help too. They have almost finished. Yes, Funnycamper, it doesn't get any better than this!
