Just starting out full time RV living. I have a 2015 Ram turbo diesel 6.7 with a Gooseneck hitch built in. I'm purchasing a toy hauler under 15,000lbs dry. I'd like to use the Gooseneck,pros/cons/ suggestions?

If you are talking about adding a gooseneck adapter to the FW pinbox, it may not be a great idea. Check with the trailer manufacturer, as to warranty, and their thoughts on trailer frame strength.If you have the factory puck system in your Ram, why wouldn't you want a FW hitch made for it? That is going to be a heavy trailer when loaded. You will want a solid hitch.Jerry

Sine you have the goose neck ball mount already in the bed, you also have the pucks for the fifth wheel hitch. Like mentioned above, a goose neck adaptor may void your frame warranty on your new trailer.

There is one gooseneck setup that some manufacturers, from what I hear, will not void your RV warranty. I can't recall who makes it, but again check with your manufacturer, not your dealer as they will tell you about anything.The one I'm talking about actually bolts to the hitch mounting points on your RV after taking original hitch off. Just looked it up...Reese Goosebox.

Goosenecks are rated for a minimum of 25,000lbs. I don't think weight is an issue for the gooseneck itself.

Going with the Anderson hitch. I called the company and they have me all set up to haul my Momentum 350M. Thanks again to all.

B&W Companion 5th wheel hitch, fits most goosenecks these days.

I use a goose-neck to pull my cougar. It weights 9000 to 10000 fully loaded. Man 15000 on a toy hauler is a lot of weight. That trailer fully loaded is going to be around +20000 that seems heavy for a goose-neck set up. I would be a bit leery of that kind of weight.

I'm with the others, gooseneck -to- pin box adapters aren't a great idea....especially since you're at 15K lbs dry. That's a pretty heavy 5er.

So does your truck have the Ram Gooseneck Prep package or is it an aftermarket gooseneck? If it's aftermarket you could use the B&W Companion hitch with the gooseneck as your center attachment point.

Another option is to install the OEM RAM 5th wheel prep kit and get a hitch that fits in the pucks.

I also use the Andersen Ultimate, although I use the rail mount version. It performs great but if I had the factory pucks I may use a hitch designed to utilize them instead.

I think the Andersen Ultimate or the less popular B&W version is much better than using a gooseneck adapter.
