Guilty pleasures

I admit, that when someone gets to their campsite and starts to back in, set up, etc... I enjoy watching them. Sometimes to watch the craziness, sometimes to get tips on How To improve. I will also offer To Help if they just aren't getting it right and I can help

I used to walk the trails everyday, but it's too much for Moose-dog these days. But he still wants to go. So we do the trails one day, then do the campground for a couple days, then do another trail. It gives him time to recuperate between longer more difficult walks. It helps me to as I have torn cartilage in my knees. I can do the trails every day but I am more likely to get aches during the night.

I will look at the RVs and tent setups, but mostly I'm checking out the campsite itself. I make a list of the ones I like (although so far I have preferred the one I chose) for future visits.

I will return a hello as I pass you, but don't strike up a conversation as a general rule.

I remember a co-worker saying once that people were always coming up to her campsite because they "thought that was a radio" only to discover it was her husband playing his guitar. She was so proud that they came by. She couldn't understand that "we came by because we thought you had a radio on" at night in a campground wasn't a compliment...

We also enjoy that, was even much more fun when we had our camping dog. We also like the large spread out flat paved campgrounds which we will take our bikes on. Whether were biking or walking always notice lots of folks doing the same so I know were in good company. :C

We eat well while on the road but that is because food is so expensive in Bermuda. Tough to get fresh produce at any price since it has to be either flown in or it is a week old by the time it hits the shelves by sea. Same with fresh meat.

We are also CG loop walkers. Meet some great people sometimes. We get attention for a number of reasons. Alpenlites are very few & very far between in the east. Our front cap sports a large Bermuda beach scene, not the usual company logo of some sort so people tend to stop & look. The Magma marine kettle clamped to the picnic table also gets a look. Something that is very rare in a CG.

I like to do this also. I like seeing others peoples rigs and a few times have struck up a conversation with the owners. They might give a wave and I will stop and say something like "THAT is ONE NICE RIG" and proceed to ask how they like it, how long they've had it and it always leads to where have you been and what places have you liked best. Great conversations are had and friendships are made.

My other guilty pleasure is eating well. Cooking on my grill from fresh fish and shrimp to filet mignon. Oh, and some Jack Daniels No.27. Good stuff.


Couldn't agree more! We have met some really nice and interesting folks. Really didn't think about the cooking aspect but normally we try a few different things that we don't cook at home. Have tried several different wood grilled experiments.

I guess when you're sitting under the awning, sipping a beverage - the only thing to do is people-watch? There's nothing better than the excitement of a bunch of kids who just arrived at the campground and they want to do EVERYTHING all at once....LOL!

But I agree with others - for true entertainment - go to the boat launch ๐Ÿ™‚

Fishing with my son he asked me to back the trailer in to load the boat at the end of the day, no prob says I. Well after many tries and much laughter I realized the problem was I could not see the trailer in the mirrors until it was already trying to jackknife. After a few times of this I got out, lowered the tail gate so I could see the trailer and viola, looked like a pro. Entertainment for others and a little wounded pride for me but all in all. a good day. Learn to laugh, especially at yourself.

When we had our fifth wheel it sometimes took me 20 minutes to jack it int our drive. Neighbors on a dead end street didn't mind much. If they had though of it they would have brought chairs to watch. I'm sure it was quite a show. Only once did I get the angles just right and backed in with one attempt and pulled forward a couple of times to get it just right. I haven't heard of any incidents on the new fangled drive though boat launch ramps in a while. We did have one TV Bass Fisherman let his dog back the coach into the water here.

Visiting the Pacific NW stop by the Ballard locks on a Sunday afternoon. You can have a front row seat watching the boats enter the locks after a weekend of boating and drinks. :E

My guilty pleasure while camping is quality bedding. Comfortable mattress and pillows. Having my own brand of coffee in the morning is another.
