I have the hand crank type that came with the trailer about 8 years ago. I have never quite seen the need to have an electric jack. I usually find something else I would rather have for the $100 or $200, but to each his own. I was just making a comment on something that just sounded weird to me. I buy recondidtioned parts for my car (like a water pump) because they wear out and a recon is cheaper than a new. It just seems odd that there would be such a thing as a reconditioned electric jacks. I would expect to buy one and it last forever, or it wasn't worth a hoot to begin with.
That is a good point. What jack do you have and how long have you had it. Thanks - silver_creekExplorerThat is a good point. What jack do you have and how long have you had it. Thanks

Seems kind of odd to me, why are there so many "redconditioned" jacks for sale? If they are so good, wouldn't "reconditioned" be hard to get?
No, but you can purchase an UltraFab 3500 factory reconditioned jack for about $100 on e bay with a factory warranty and the company stands behind their product as good as any other long after the warranty expires. - manleyExplorer

My neighbor bought the HF unit a couple of years ago. Works great so far. I bought the ultra fab unit refurbished. It also is great.

I don't have the Harbor Freight tongue jack, but I second the comment about UltraFab and eBay. I bought one about a year ago, and it works like a champ. It was right at $100, shipped to my door!
A quick search on eBay shows the following:
4,000 pounder - $114.79 (LINK)
3,500 pounder - $138.99 (LINK)
3,000 pounder - $108.95 (LINK)
If it were me, I'd buy the first one - the Ultra 4,000 - instead of running the risk with Harbor Freight.

Does anyone have any experience with the electric tongue jack sold at Harbor Freight? It seems like such a cheap price so I wonder about the quality. Thanks
Yes, cheap price and quality but...you can buy about 4 of them for the price of a high quality one. If mine breaks while out and about I will just pull out my bottle jack to get me back no big deal... First one lasted about 2.5 years @ 5 trips/year. Use it about 10 cycles per trip.
