Hello, # 1 is a better unit and likely better for towing a frontier because I believe it has a higher weight rating. I have the number 2 unit which works fine for towing my Nissan Versa which is less than 3,000 lbs. You should get a base plate specifically made for that Frontier and you might find one on Ebay or from an RV dealer in your area. I live in Canada but bought all my towing equipment from Camping Connection in Kissimmee, Florida. You can also buy bolt locks rather than pins to attach your tow bar to the MH to make sure no one walks away with your towing equipment while you are away. You might also want to check your state regulations about auxiliary towing equipment for the Nissan. You may need a Blue Ox Patriot, Brake Buddy or similar system. Good luck.
