Does anyone know what's going on? This is BS!
  • Check if CoE Holiday Park is open . It's on the south east side of FW on Lake Benbrook just off Hwy 377. We stay there often as our son lives near there. It was closed in the fall due to flooding.
  • Talked to the campground. All they could tell me was it won't open until April 1st because of construction. Why they didn't know that when I booked it 5 weeks ago I don't know. And why they shut the whole campground down I have no idea. The campground seemed very nice. Only the government would completely shut down something that makes money. I asked if they could recommend another campground and they recommended Pilot Knoll. I made reservations there.

Hickory Creek is really not that close to Ft. Worth.

There should be something much closer to your grandkids than Hickory Creek.

    Good luck
We stayed there last year on the recommendation of one of the members on this forum We really liked it. It was only about a half hour drive to their house.

why not call the park and ask?

That would make too much sense.

Why do some people have to be sarcastic? I got the email notice at 9:45pm. Last year we tried to call them on our way there and they didn't answer during the day so I doubt they would answer at that time of evening. I just wondered if anyone who lived close by or anyone else who got a cancelation notice knows what's going on.

  • I have just been researching COE campgrounds on Whitney Lake. There are several, some open year round, others don't open until April 1st.

There was another park, also a COE - Steele Creek Park Campground on the same lake that has a camp host, water/restrooms and is FREE. West side of the lake near Lakeside Village off FM56.
  • Does anyone have another COE, State Park or Forest Service Campground we could use in the same proximity to Ft Worth? We are going to visit our grand kids and Hickory Creek was close by. This seems like BS. Please tell me what is the emergency that 7 weeks before our reservation they need to cancel????? I would really like to know what's going on. If no one else knows,I will call. But it's less than 2 months away.Like they didn't know there was going to be construction 3 weeks ago when we made the reservation? Only the government would do something like this.Private industry would do everything they could to make sure they would not inconvenience a customer.
