Hint and vent to guy laying in the road

We all are missing the most important point. Where was that flat tire that could cost lives made? Another IED made in China?

This thread reminds me of a similar situation I witnessed decades ago when I was in the AF in Utah:

I was driving on a 6 lane major freeway (3 lanes on each side) in the right-hand lane when I saw up ahead what looked like a vehicle in the middle lane on my side of the freeway that wasn't moving. Yep ... it wasn't. A guy had the hood up and was working on the engine!

A true story.

I am not stopping or calling anyone until I can safely pull off the road.
I would sooner put the truck in 4lo and drag it on the frame.
Actually I did once drive a shredded tire about three miles to pull over properly.

Had my turn with tire blowout on a west Texas 2 lane hwy. Lucky me traffic was extremely light. There was no way for getting completely out of the travel lane even with going on the gravel.

Put the triangles out, the flashers on & in no time had help in the form of the county mounty & a local rancher. Nice having extra vehicles behind you when you are laying in the road with your legs sticking out.

I see this all the time, folks would rather risk their lives, or the life of the road service folks than drive to a safe place. You read about it all the time on here, folks will say they had a flat in a dangerous place and it took to long.
Hopefully folks will read this, and next time limp to a place that is safe to change a tire. I have told the DW and kids, if you ruin the tire and wheel I will gladly pay to replace them, a life is to expensive, and why take the risk of you do not have to. The only time you should be in an unsafe place is if you can't move at all.

Just a few days ago I am on the interstate heading home in 5 pm rush hour traffic. I'm in a 3/4 ton truck pulling a loaded cargo trailer.
Up ahead I see a full size luxury car on the shoulder with at least a third on the vehicle still in the right lane. WTH is my first thought.
Traffic is going from 75mph to 20mph in very short order and vehicles are trying to merge into the left lane, which is causing a bottleneck. The car has it's flashers on and as I get closer I see a teenager leaning against the drivers door of a smaller vehicle in front while an older guy is changing the left rear tire. The guy pulled his car up behind the car with the flat and must have figured he would hang out in the road as a way to keep other cars from passing by too close. That is beyond dumb, that is idiotic and reckless. And yes, a LEO with lights flashing was coming over the horizon as I was leaving the area.

NOW THAT IS FUNNY!!!

The problem with spell-check is that, if you use the wrong word but spell it correctly, it doesn't tell you. I understood that someone at Microsoft was working on a "Context Checker" a few years back, but it was way too complicated and was dropped.

that is so true.

in general, to trust your small body against a ton of metal at 65 mph is nuts. trust the driver? what if you lose? it isn't worth it, the person should be the one to take care of themselves.

I also have to mow near the road, I know exactly what you mean.
I keep MY eyes open cause you can not trust the driver one bit!
