Hosts needed in NE Washington

Hello everyone,

I am starting the recruitment for campground hosts positions for the Department of Natural Resources in the Northeast region. Attached is a link to our volunteer campground hosts website that was recently created. Campground host website

The positions are volunteer. Douglas Falls, Dragoon Creek, and Starvation Lake have water, sewer, and electricity and would require a minimum of 3 months. Sherry Creek was built last season and the host site has not been completed with all the amenities as listed in the previous campgrounds. The other campgrounds do not have host sites established and there would be a require a minimum of 1 month. We have other campgrounds that are not listed on the site and have not had hosts before. The do not have established host sites and are located in Okanogan County near Okanogan and Tonasket. If anyone is interested contact me and/or go to the site and follow the direction on how to apply.

Thanks,

  • Just like yesterday. DW and I woke up and have been cooped up in our MH here in Oly. Decided to go for a drive. Did the Olympic Penninsula loop. Did a turn around at a spot by the lower Queets campground road and what did we see, a giant pile of tossed out garbage.
When I see this I just want to throttle someone. There is really no reason.
Several tires, empty fast food bags, close ect. and no it was not a pile from a road crew.

I may look into these ops some of them up in Stevens County might be great for a few months this Summer.

This must be something new...some of the sites listed are among my favorite used-to-be-no-host sites.

I might have to look into short-term hosting some of the remotes in the Okanagon- are those in the Sinlahekin getting hosts, too? I could happily do a month up there.

They would probably make you park in a spot where others could see you. And not in your tucked into your personal tranquil bit of heaven hiding spot(smiley face).

P.S. Found another good spot up there. Takes longer to catch a grass hopper to use for bait, than to catch the trout.

But that's the beauty of it: I'd be Master of ALL I survey! Mistress. Whatever.

At long last- the perfect solution to the vexing problem of folks that always seem to want to intrude on "my" territory...Absolute Power to kick 'em the heck out. :B.....;)

WA resident here.....Glad to see you folks pro-active. Have been to many DNR places. Keep up the good work. Wife and I have thought about being "hosts", but would probably end up in jail if we ever caught some of those people that destroy things.
Same here. I'm afraid I don't tolerate misbehavior well.
