- wa8yxmExplorer IIIUsually on a 20 amp (T-shaped neutral) circuit you can run 1 "Big ticket" item (A/C, Water heater, Microwave) as others have said run the fridge on Propane
And make sure the batteries are full (Give them at least 2 or 3 hours of "plugged in" time before you run the A/C)
Of course this only works if your spouse is not Eva Gabor (Reference to TV show: Green Acres) - dodge_guyExplorer IIAre you using an extension cord? That will reduce the voltage if so. If you have a way to monitor the voltage in the trailer then keep an eye on it. It will probably be OK.
I see you already did, and it worked out. Now you know it’s time to run a dedicated 30A service for the RV. - Johnsonty131ExplorerThanks guys I slept in camper last night and dog ear never got hot, just a little warm and voltage was always over 120!
- pianotunaNomad IIIHi,
I'm comfortable running the roof air so long as voltage is no lower than 108. I monitor it with a Kill-a-Watt meter.
If it is lower than 108, I add the autoformer to the circuit. - Yes, plug in and let it rip. Once running check the voltage is above 110 in the RV.
If the breaker overloads.... turn the fridge and water to propane only. If it still overloads let the battery charge for 60 minutes and try again.
And forget the microwave or the hairdryer. TV and lights will be OK.
If the GFCI trips.... ok that is more involved. - 2112Explorer IIYou don't need to turn off any breakers if your battery is charged.
If your battery is low, let it charge a few minutes before you turn on the AC. The charger may draw 4 amps for a short time - Johnsonty131ExplorerSo my 5 breakers are 1 . Interior zone 1 15 amp
2. Furnace and ac 15 amp.
3. Water pump 10 amp
4. Exterior light 15 amp
5. Awning
6. Battery charge 30 amp. Am I turning off this one - dedmistonModeratorAnd make sure there aren't any coils in the extension cord.

Measure the voltage at an outlet inside the camper. Make sure it stays 110VAC or above. A Kill-O-Watt meter comes in handy for this.
Thank you guys. ....
....
.... Also how do I know if I’m burning up the circuit? Just use multimeter on the outlet im hooked up to?
Hold the plugs at the GFI outlet and extension cord to see if they are getting hot. A little warm is expected. - ktmrfsExplorer IIjust be careful in extension cord length and AWG. Use 12ga and as short as possible. Or best if you can just use the 30A from the trailer to a dogbone at the outlet.
