Privacy issue? Really? Your wife would flip out if she knew what Google has on her...
That's probably true if one uses an "iWhatever" to browse the Internet ... but may not be the case for old school types that use a non-Apple computer to browse the Internet.
With a non-Apple computer you can have these things turned on to keep you private:
- Delete Browsing History on exit
- InPrivate Browsing
- Active X Filtering
- Tracking Protection (several simultaneous software programs)
- Pop-up Blocker
- SmartScreen Filter
- Shut down and restart the browser immediately after each single critical use (involving personal records) and at the end of each non-critical general browsing sesson.
- Either turn the computer completely off each night and when away or disconnect if from the Internet each night and when away.
- Top-notch and always-current virus program on the computer.
- Make sure your email service provide has in place screening software to stop suspicious emails from ever reaching your computer, and notifies you whenever it blocks one.
I utilize most all of the above all the time whenever using my non-Apple computer on the Internet. It eventually becomes second nature to use a computer this way and is not as involved as it sounds.
As for our name on a window tag at a campground - the security exposure from this pales in comparison to improper protection when on the Internet.
