How does DirectTV bill?

To find the monthly cost for DirecTV service, go to the DirecTV website and choose the package that interests you, There are several to choose from. Many times they have an introductory offer that will give you a reduced price for the first 12 months and other upgrades for free. Re-reading your original post it seems you only want local channels while camping. If that is the case then don't worry about Direct-TV, just use your antenna on the RV. We almost always get HD quality locals using it.

The second part of your original post asks about what is the charge for Direct-TV for the RV if you have a Direct-TV account at home. Everyone has already answered that....take a receiver with you in the RV. Of course the RV will have to have a dish set up or a carry out system. In other words, you are using your home receiver through an RV dish and Direct-TV could care less, there will be no charge.

Now if you want to get local channels where ever you camp then you simply call Direct-TV and change your "service" address. Just keep in mind that not every customer service person you talk to will make this easy, or even do it right. While full timing the first year we used to change our service location frequently and occasionally a customer service rep would mess it up and change our billing. We soon learned just to use our antenna for locals.

Genie mini will not work without the Genie 5 channel receiver being on the same SWM antenna. The Mini has no receiver and uses one of the HR44 five receivers. WTH, I had nothing but trouble skipping recordings until they swapped my HR34 for a HR44.

We take the Genie, no cost to go first class. Why would you not take ole Genie along?

Thanks for being.....ahhh - more direct.

Besides the answers you already have - the cost would be dependent on the channel "package" you want/have.

More channels = more $$.

Well, I have DirecTV at my sticks and bricks - 4 receivers, and "Choice Xtra Classic" package.
Cost is right at $100 (USD).

I take a receiver with me - so *my* cost never changes.

The cost to someone with basic service might be 1/4 of that.

BTW - Nothing to do with Direct being acquired by AT&T, but (IMO) Dish TV has a better "program" for RVers which you might want to check out...;)

Note the second paragraph, which is why we take a receiver from home.

Only residential accounts are available for DNS, but some mobile accounts might be eligible. According to federal regulations, we may offer DNS without screening for address eligibility only to certain types of recreational vehicles and commercial trucks. Boats and other marine vessels do not qualify for this special consideration. If your permanent residence account lists more than one receiver and one of these is located in your vehicle, you will no longer be able to "mirror" the services on the additional receiver in your vehicle. Before we can add DNS to your service, federal law requires that you send us the following information:
•Photocopy of your vehicle registration.
•This Mobile Vehicle Affidavit Declaration of Intent form (please print and complete).

we have a roof mounted dish on our 5er and for the times we don't have a clear view of the southern sky, we also have a remote dish (VuQube) .... as others have mentioned, we take a box and remote with us from home for use while traveling .... also as others have mentioned, we get over the air signals for local service when we are out of range of the ones we get at home ..... doing so has worked well for us since the summer of '03

Im with the others, we take our bedroom receiver and put it in the RV, if I don’t get local channels, oh well. I hardly ever use CG cable TV.
