How to prevent Keirig from freezing??

It has been suggested that we run some whisky through it.
Is there a better way other than keeping it in the truck/motels for 3 day?

For those wondering why the OP lets his trailer get so cold while he’s using it, it appears to be because when the temps are really low he stays in a motel. I suspect this is why he mentioned keeping it in the truck/motel for 3 days, probably while heading south.

you can't with out putting **** in it that will give you off flavors or wreck pump seals and such. I think we have gone through a couple before I figured out that even when you empty them by the instructions they are not truley empty. we take ours in the house when we winterize the rv and take it back out when we get ready for that first camping of spring. if we have to use the rv during the winter I leave it at home and use the stovetop perculator.

Even cheap wine at 5% will not freeze solid, just to a slush that will not break anything.
I too am puzzled why your RV is so cold when in use. What do you do with the water system? If it is stored then duh.... take your toys in the house...

I always tell people, if you're going to go camping then learn how to camp.
There are many many ways to make coffee in a camper that do not require warm storage. Get with the program.

OP, you could run some cheap vodka through it (although I realize that it's not nearly as cheap in Canada as it is in the US). It wouldn't take much, and there would be no aftertaste from it. Or you could make some great "coffee" when you get it going again. :B

I have actually heard of folks using it to winterize their RV's.

If it's cold enough for your Keurig to freeze while you are in the camper, with heater on (because it is cold), then can't help ya.

If your RV is parked for the winter, take the Keurig home with you and keep it in your nice toasty home.

The insulated cooler and insulated RV won't keep it from freezing. It merely takes longer for the temperature to drop low enough around the Keurig. Without a source of heat, the inside of any insulated container will eventually reach the temperature of the outside. The insulation just slows that process down.

In regards to the landfills, K-Cups are recyclable. All the ones I buy state that and tell you what to do. Peal the top off, dump the coffee, rinse, put with recyclables.

Now, do I do this? NOOOO!! When they make it easy to pull the top off I will, right now it is a PAIN.

I use a cheap no name K-Cup brewer, OK, it has a name, but nothing I have heard of before, that makes a single cup and pretty much sucks all the water out each time.

We have one of the single serves also. Couple of times we have taken off for a long weekend in winter we will just grab the few cloths and some food and go to the storage lot. It takes us 15-20 minutes to settle in.

We get done and decide to make coffee to go. Keurig wouldn't work. Drove to destination and decide to re-check it before I trash it and it fires right up. Did this twice. Finally decided it just doesn't like to work till it gets warmed up to above 45.°

Wa8 Don’t worry about us filling landfills with cups.
I cut them open, shake out and compost the grounds.
Then because there is a tiny amount of oil in each cup I use them to help start the fires in the wood stove we heat our house with.
I love to watch the black smoke going skyward and the spreading out all over the country side from witch the product originally came from.

We had one freeze and break even though we were sure it was drained.
