Hurricane Evacuation, Foster cats and the military!

Friends of mine are military stationed o a base.

DH can't leave until base says so.
But he decides to send DW and the kids to higher ground. So she gets on the road with the 2 children and honestly the pain and anguish and how scared she was trying to evacuate North could fill 10 pages.

We all downloaded Zello to our phones so she could at least have us on the other end to help her thru her ordeal. This app really does help in a state of emergency situations.

- The upside of this story? -

She also fosters. She has 9 cats she had taken in on foster.
The decision was to 'leave them with the DH on the base'.

Then - they order evacuation!
What a trooper! Her DH gets on the road to evacuate solo with 9 foster cats!!

Well IMHO this DH went WELL beyond the call of duty! :C

And this is the reason there are so many divorces for military people. Some families just aren't tough enough or adaptable enough. I told my daughter and son when they went into the military to forget about a spouse until they got out. Glad this family is out of harms way.

  • Nice story but I would not let anyone know I had 9 cats in base housing. Maybe things have changed since I retired, but having 9 cats would get you removed from base housing when I was on active duty.
  • Update: The whole family is now together out of harms way. DH made the trip successfully and no cats were harmed in the process. :W
  • Where's the Like button for this? Thank you to this family for their service and all they do to help humans as well as animals.
