I am looking for a small trailer to tow a Smart Car.

A couple of years ago I saw the neatest dinghy trailer and now I want one. It was very small, aluminum, and held a Smart Car. The owner pulled two pins in the front, got in the car and backed up a couple of feet. At this point the front of the trailer bed lifted up and became a ramp, and he backed off and drove away! When he returned he simply put the front wheels on the ramp, drove forward until the rear wheels got on the ramp which then tilted slowly forward to the level position! I have searched the internet but cannot find this ramp or any like it. Can you help?

  • check the trailers at lowes, they are basically the same and made by a name company. They run around $2K as I recall.
  • We placed an order with Texas Trailers in Greenville FL. Spent 3 weeks touring Florida A\& picked up the trailer on way back to home in Virginia. It saves a lot of wear & tare on such a small vehicle. You can order it with electric brakes or surge brakes, your choice. the ramps to load the car are attached to the trailer & slide in & out of the stowage space under the trailer.

The user forum at this site: http://www.smartcarofamerica.com/ has a towing section and they talk about trailer'ing smart cars there.

I flat tow my rolling snot bubble. I have many pics of my towing setup in the link in my signature.

At some point John & Angela will post a pic of their smart car on a trailer.... or I can hijack one of their pics and post it here for them :B

    Thanks dude, You Rock :)

  • Most Smart cars are easily towable four down. Why mess with a trailer?
