Those are good questions. I got a factory brake controller added by Ford. I set it to 5.0 after they hooked up the trailer at the dealer and I took off. It was a gravel lot and so I couldn't calibrate it there. I must admit I've been negligent about it because it has been driving well for the 1 week I have owned it and now I probably won't drive it any more until October. I didn't get the WDH because I bought a Ford F-250 and it tows it well, but again only for a total of about 5 hours on the road. Once or twice I felt it was a little loose on the road, but it settled down right away.
