What has not been covered in this thread is that perhaps those with the sign out are full timers, with out a S&B left behind to ransact?
When I see a sign out, I take it as an invitation to approach them if we have common interests.
These are the travelers who invite making new friends without paranoia.
Full timing, away from family, friends, roots can be lonely if not for the new friends made along the way with similar interests.
