In subframe and Jeep

I tow a 2014 Jeep Wrangler equipped with an Invsibrake System. I had a direct charge line installed on the battery. I still experience "low battery" after a couple of days of long hauls. What might cause a battery drain with a direct charge line installed?

Mody n Domy, thanks for your response reqarding the battery drain issue with the Invsibrake issue. Since I already have a direct charge line installed, would that have to be removed prior to installing the Toad Charger?

Before you go changing anything or, jumping to conclusions, there's a couple things to check first. The first thing I'd check is, make sure that your "direct" charge line to the toad, is working and, working all the time that it's supposed to be. Did you install this "direct" charge line? If so, or, even if you didn't, is there a fuse in the system or, a possible automatic reset circuit breaker that, neither of which, maybe working??? Or, maybe the wiring of the direct charge was done with too small of wire and, is not conveying the proper voltage/amperage to the toads battery. Just ideas here.

Next, I'd call the Invisibrake folks and find out, just what kind of amperage draw that unit is supposed to impose, on the toads 12V system. As has been suggested, it's possible that, the load of the Invisibrake, is exceeding the supply of 12V (that may or may not, be accurately working). Once you find out this info, then you can develop a course of action.

  • If the Invsibrake is plugged in a 12v outlet in the Jeep that is your draw. I installed a Toad Charger to keep the battery charged while my Blue Ox Patriot is being used.
  • The Invsibrake System is probably your drain as in needs power. Question is if the charge line is working or providing enough power to offset the Invsibrake System. It appears it's not. Perhaps the trickle charge line needs to be checked out. You're sure you're following the proper steps to tow, key in the right position?
