Installing second friction sway bar

Hello All,

I have been towing my 33' TT for years with just one Friction sway bar and have decided to add a second to see if it helps take that last little bit of sway out before dropping big money on a new hitch. My question is regarding the piece that mounts to the trailer frame.

My existing setup has a rectangular piece with 6 holes and the small ball mounted to the trailer frame. With the new kit I purchased the piece with the small ball is a smaller square piece with only 4 holes, and then they give you a rectangular piece with 6 holes they are calling a spacer. It looks like they want you to use the "spacer" and the square piece with the ball mounted together.

My concern is this will make the ball stick out from the trailer frame more than the other side. Does this matter? Should I install this way or should I just mount the pice with the ball using 4 screws to make it the same as the existing side? Thanks all!

Where did you get your other bracket from? Just wondering...I have thought about installing another one on my left side. If in doubt and don't get a good answer call the company tech support. I have a ProSeries WDH with SC. I was not comfortable with my setup so I added a friction bar to the right side, it came with the six screws plus my hitch assembly had the place to attach the front ball. I had to make an adjustment to my WDH and now it feels comfortable when I am going down the road. But boy are the SC bars a pain to hook up now...need to put some more muscle on.

Take some of the weight off with the jack (preferably electric) before you lift the bars... easypeasy. :) :)

I have the manual crank. I have found that where I park it has a lot to do with putting up the bars. I did get a handle from Etrailer to help that I didn't have before.....

  • The new kit I ordered is a Curt and it came as a compete kit with the weld on tab for the left side. I will have to go get that welded on somewhere but should not be a problem. I've never had 2 friction sway bars which is why I asked my original question. Thanks
