Is it okay to drop my tip out beds at rest stops or Walmart?

I'll be traveling to Florida from MO soon. I figure I'll have to stop for one night at a rest stop or Walmart. The beds in my toy hauler are queen tip-outs one on each side of the rig. I've never overnighted before except in campgrounds, so not sure of the proper etiquette. I would leave the bike inside and drop one of the queen tip-outs to sleep on. Just not sure if that is okay to do or not? Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.

possible major truck trouble. at truck dealership getting repaired and the dealer lot was full of cars and the people asked walmart manager if they could use their lot in their time of distress and all worked out fine for everyone? why assume the worst when this is probably the opposite?

I did that last year going to New Orleans. We stopped at Samstown Casino in Tunica, MS. Parked, ate dinner, relaxed all night, and headed out in the morning. Nice easy campground to get in and out of with plenty availability. But, yes, campgrounds are not always available.

Camp grounds aren't always available. Last year on my way to the seasonal site I used a Wallyworld. The campgrounds in the area did not open for another 2 weeks. I agree with others that did not want to pull into a campground at 1 in the morning for 4 or 5 hours of sleep. If I have the time I enjoy coming off the road early and finding a campground with a pool then having a cocktail and a leisurely dinner

Don't ya just love a good Walmart parking lot thread. Hasn't been one for quite awhile. The CW GS bashing crowd kinda overtook the Walmart parking police since they combined. Good to see it back I was missing those Walmart days

Thanks for all the input. It's about what I thought. I'll probably look for a place near or in Chattanooga which about half way to my destination in FL. Campground may be the best bet as it may be quieter. On the other hand, if I only need to stop for 5 or 6 hours maybe Wallyworld or a rest stop will do. I assure the parking police... I am not going to put out the awning, grill, chairs, etc. I'd park as far away as possible, drop one bed over the lawn or island, sleep for a while hopefully, shop at wallyworld, and head out. I guess I just wanted to know as a last resort if it was okay to stop with a hybrid and drop the tent out.

I understand your post but what fun is stopping at 1 am at a campground, getting up at 5:30 am and being on the road by say 6? what FUN can a campground give you in those circumstances?
only fun thing I see in this is disturbing your other campers snoozing for the night while you get your site and another more fun thing is paying $45 for 6 hours. not my idea of fun when I am looking to stop for about 5-6 hrs tops.

we stayed at a few rest stops with truckers. it is not 'true' overnight, it is a stop to sleep, eat, unwind from hard driving. like 5-6 hrs. every time we stop at rest stops when we wake at about 6 am the truckers are mostly gone and a few campers are still there. ones that pulled in way after us late at night.
