We used to have an '06 Jeep Liberty CRD. It was a GREAT little car! But, the key word is LITTLE! It just didn't have the cargo capacity I wanted. I found it to be absolutely reliable.
My Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited has been totally reliable, even though it has been modified in several ways.
In fact, I have owned several Jeeps, from Jeepster Commandos (C101) to CJ models to Wranglers. The only reliability problems I ever had was with the Buick engine in one of the Jeepsters.
Personally, given the choice between a Jeep and a Honda (ANY Honda) I would take the Jeep every time!
Or, I would get a manual transmission Subaru Outback or Forester. Yes, they ARE towable 4-down with the manual transmission!
I would get the 4 cylinder. I don't care for the 6 cylinder Subarus.
