I was out camping this last week with my truck camper, not too far from home when I spotted this set up in a local city park in Anacortes WA. These are rental units, and I can't help but think what a neat way for people to get out and enjoy camping on a small scale. Really a good thing for folks who just want to get out for an occasional over-night.

Hope these people don't mind me taking pictures of them without them knowing. Hans

It reminds me of my first and only motorhome. A 72(?) VW tent bus. It was great! Had everything and was really quite comfortable. pluuussss, the chicks really dug it.

I'm not sure I see any advantage over using a plain minivan, tent, sleep pads, camp stove and an Aquatainer. You can't really do anything but sleep in there - just like a tent. So why not a tent?

I guess if you don't want to transport that gear far or don't even own it it's a nice all in one deal. Witness it's use by many international travelers.

I agree with Skrams, this could be a big problem for any one over 35. Then what do you do with it, once you are up there?

Would be nice to see pictures of the top part, and how to access it.

My wife and I were considering them for a trip out west. We were going to give them a shot with a recent trip to Vegas, but you can't return on Sunday which was the day we were flying out. We're thinking of using one to do a 15 year anniversary road trip next year.

A slightly older company with different vans is Crazy Vans out of New Zealand.

The DW and I love them because as mentioned earlier a lot of Euro campers and we love to meet them talk about their experiences and of course give them a few pointers and destinations.

Been conversing with some under thirty kids from France for about three years.

I've seen quite a few of them around here in the last few years. We woke up next to one in Yosemite a couple of years ago. We were amazed when 4 pretty good sized adults climbed out of the van in the morning. It didn't look like it was big enough to fit all of them in there but apparently it was.

That's so cool! They rent in Vegas, San Fiasco, LA and all over NZ and Australia?

Here's a photo from their web site of what the camper van looks like inside.

Thanks for sharing the info and photos.

They are a NZ Company, that strangely has not broken into the Australian market much, unlike Maui Motorhomes

I saw one last year here in a So Cal campground,It came in mid day with 2 people and a half empty bike rack.

Just before dark 2 people came in on bicycles, they spent the night then headed out. I asked about that and they were going from San Diego to the Redwoods, taking turns as they went.

Skipping some of the most dangerous parts when necessary. Sounded like a neat way to go.

We saw those and another company at the Grand Canyon NP this past spring. I bet a whole lot cheaper than renting a class c.
