In my opinion there are three types of Camping/RVing of which I have 3 different expectations. We normally connect vacations with holidays giving us a longer stay.
1. Staying in a private RV park which is what we did this weekend in Branson, MO. The spots are close together and have full hookups. I really do not consider this camping, it is staying in the RV instead of a hotel in town. We normally eat out most meals, eat in the RV some but do not cook outside. People are usually pretty easy going. The spots are small but we don't usually spend that much time outside the RV. Maybe a little while in the late afternoon watching people fishing and walking the dogs. The guy next door ask if it was OK to park his boat which would be 3 feet or so over in my spot which was fine with me. I expect this type to be crowded but we just roll with flow. We had a great time and no problems other than a couple of barking dogs but that did not last long.
2. Staying in a State Park or COE campground. This is Camping, cooking outside, hiking, fishing. Sometimes we may drive into town for a meal if we want a break. We wants lots of room and more privacy. If people are out of line the rangers usually handle it pretty quick. In this case I am usually not as tolerant with rude people and expect others to be more respectful.
3. Boon-docking in the National Forest. We are usually at the end of a dead end road in the middle of nowhere. This is camping at its finest. If you want to eat you have to cook as its at least 30 miles to the nearest store. If someone comes down the road I expect them to turn around and leave unless they are an invited guest. We are prepared to handle any problems our self but have not had any in 40 years.
You get out of life what you put in to it. If you have problems every time you go camping then you probably need to look in the mirror.
