We are still trying to find a toad for our 1999 Fleetwood Storm, which will tow 3500 lbs max. We thought a Ranger would work but I had trouble with the clutch being touchy and no hand brake when I tried it out. Now we're thinking a convertible, but can only find Mini Coopers,checking with the Remco page. We'd appreciate any ideas. If we get a convertible it won't be my main driver. We have a 1990 Toyota pickup with no AC, no power anything; will be keeping that because I can drive it but it wouldn't be a good toad because of no airbags, no AC. We also have a 2007 Toyota Camry hybrid which will be my main car. We'd be selling a 2007 MB convertible so have decided we'd replace that with a convertible toad.Thank you all for any help you can offer.Susan

That 2 hours must be for the early Miatas. I have installed 3 of them and can do it in about 1/2 hour.

I have also installed 3 of the newer Miatas and removed 1. I can do the install in about 4 hours.

I recently put an Electric Super Charger (ESC) on my 2012 Miata and had to take the front end off AGAIN. That is the 3rd time I have removed and replaced it.

I'm getting tired of doing it.

Thank you,everyone. We actually just got back from buying a Honda CR-V. Had it weighed at an iron-recycling place and it came in at 3420 with just under a quarter tank of gas. We're going to take the rear seats out, which weigh 135 lbs. So with the seats out and a full tank we should be at 3364, which we hope will be okay. The only Miata we could find close to us was not in very good shape, and we didn't think we could find a fabricator and parts fast enough for our trip. So we'll have the CR-V for our toad and everyday. We very much appreciate your help. If you see us on the road with an old Fleetwood Storm and a sky blue CR-V, please say hello!

Miata Baseplate Clicky

I don't know why I couldn't get to it here. And in my search I thought Healeyman had posted it, so of course I looked the wrong way. Then it was in "tow bars"....

Anyhow, fascinating. Looks more difficult than some, but I thought I saw on Roadmaster that they allow 2.0 hours. Usually looks worse in pictures than actually doing the work.

Susan, put this thing on what Dr. Phil calls "Project Status" and you can do it!

THIS Thread shows what must be done to install the Roadmaster base plate on a 2014 Miata.

Roadmaster only shows the base plate to fit a 2006-2011 because that is all they have ever tried to install one on.

The base plate shown in the pictures was my base plate and it came off a 2008. The base plate currently on my 2012 was originally on a 2006.

The Miata NC chassis are the same from 2006 through 2015.

Also for installation I would give 5R in Golden call. I don't know if they do this type of work but it is worth a shot. When I use to live in Golden they did a lot of work for me and I was always happy with their work. The owner lived just a little ways from my house on Easley Rd.

I found one that is built for 2011 Miata.

Roadmaster makes it

Just entry in the Mazda then Miata and 2011. IT shows the model of tow base plate as part # as 52728-1 Style EZ2
