Yeah, she had severe leg swelling, ankles and calves, as well as a torn achilles, so they got the achilles and then started looking at liver .
Most docs dont seem to associate edema and liver, but thats how it often manifest from what we were told. Patients will be told they are dehydrated based on skin condition but retaining large quanities of water in their belly, and legs.
@ VCU Dr Sanyal is the department head for Hep, and also one of only a few US Docs that does a Fibroscan to locate liver issues.
