Great auction, My father bought a 1936 Harley knucklehead new for $360, this week two of them sold for $150,00 and $160,000. The bike was a one year run, and and was a poorly build cycle at the time. Pays to be wrong.
I dunno' about the poorly built part, I had a '47 and it was fairly stout. Mine had the pedal clutch and the tank-side shifter. It rode pretty good, about the only thing I didn't like was the adjustable timing. Forget to set that right, kick it, and you could have yourself up in the air. At $150K, I guess I wish it was still around.
With Harley you have better than 50/50 it was a bad bike.
Not my experience but it doesn't matter. I've had bikes built in Asia, Europe, and the USA, I'm not a geographic hater or lover of anything in particular.

What kind of amazes me is to see some old yuppie on a low rider hard tail acting like he's having fun. :B

Oh yeah, I know a lot of parts on the Harley are foreign parts, but I just didn't know about the Japanese involvement in the development of the Evo motor.

I seem to remember that Mikuni (Japanese) made the carb for HD for a while and that HD used Japanese forks at some point too ???

And guess where that high output motor for the Ford Taurus SHO came from - Yamaha.

I'm not a Harley fan so I wasn't aware that the Japanese had input in the design of the Evo motor. Learn something new every day. ๐Ÿ™‚

And still do. LOL

Just kidding, Harley makes a pretty reliable bike now, as opposed to when AMF owned it, and before the Evolution motor came out.
Your right, the Japanese did a good job on redoing the engine for Harley, so they make something that would run more than 10,000 miles.

On the website it has a results tab but it will be awhile before the Vegas results are on there. You can see lots of past results though.

Just looked through the catalog. I've owned several of those bikes in the past. The Kawasaki 750 H2 I had in 1977. The Husqvarna 1975 WR400. The Elsinore 250, the Honda CT90 and the S90. (I still have 4 Honda CT90's; one is museum quality) the Yamaha RD350, the Kawasaki 120 in red, The Honda 300 scrambler, the Honda CL125, the Yamaha DT1,... Wow that brings back a lot of memories!!

I wonder what they went for? Is there a way to find out what they auctioned for?

Nah, not wrong. Even Edsels sell to collectors now. ๐Ÿ™‚ Doesn't matter if it was any good, just that it's now "collectable".

I'll take the Ducati 851 and the Harley VR1000.
