My sleep sucks

Well you figured out what you do not want in your next rig. We had a similar thing in our TT. The mattress was terrible and we added a memory foam topper. Better, but not great. Bed was wall to wall from head to toe. Thankfully we are not tall people (5'9" and 5'1"). We hated the short wardrobes on the side of the beds. The overhead storage was never an issue for us. Making the bed was a chore.

So when we were shopping for our MH, we knew what we didn't want. WE can walk around the bed (about 18-24" at the foot) and we have full size wardrobes that are on the wall across from the foot of the bed. Easier to make up too. The mattress is from the Denver mattress company and is awesome. No topper needed. It's more comfortable than our memory foam mattress at home.
