Need a new hitch

Looks like Curt Manufacturing makes a 2-1/2" drop shank that accepts a 2" head and the holes are 1-1/4" spacing. It was on the Curt MFg. website. (CURT Weight Distribution Shank #17128) I think that is what I am looking for!

So there is a drop shank that is what I am thinking about from Equal-i-zer and one from another company that I cant remember. They have the 2-1/2 inch to go in the receiver then shaves down to 2" to put the head on. Eaz-Lift is 1-1/4" bolt spacing. The ones on the web I saw didn't specify the bolt spread on theirs.

Barney S. gets it. That is the answer to the question. I would like to mount my 2" head on the new 2-1/2" inch drop shank. The existing hitch I use is a and Eaz-lift. But it seams when I do a search I cant find anything definitive regarding this subject.

Etrailer has a Curt 2 1/2" shank for their weight distribution hitches, but it may not be a universal fit for other brands of hitches, because not all manufacturers use the same hole spacing for the ball head to shank mounting.

Best bet is to find out what brand your WD hitch is, then go to that manufacturer and see if they offer a 2 1/2" shank.

I think your question is can you mount your old hitch head, which is now mounted on a 2" shank, on to a new 2.5" shank. I believe the answer is yes you can. The new 2.5 inch shanks taper to 2 inch where the hitch head mounts.

So I read the thread related to my question and I don't really see a definitive solution there. Does anyone know if there is 2-1/2 X 2 shank? Meaning, 2-1/2" to slide into the receiver and 2" to accept my existing hitch head and bars. I have heard that if I buy a whole new hitch assy. that they start at 1000# bars and go up from there. But I have to say, I haven't really seen enough print from various manufacturers to really know that. When ever I google 2-1/2" weight distributing hitches, everything under heaven comes up and not just 2-1/2"
