New or Used?

I think it is like anything else. You will get more for your money typically on the used market, but you have to be sure to check everything out thoroughly to be sure everything works and there is no evidence of water damage or crash damage. Buying through a dealer may give you some level of comfort as they may have at least a short warrantee period or at least you can try to negotiate one in.

If you are mechanically inclined I would think this would be a great way to save money... Like said above buying locally gets you a local dealer and in most cases the problems with the most concern will show up right away.

Many people out there have to buy everything new (vehicle and trailer). And only hold on to those "new" items for a couple of years and trade them in for some-more new stuff even though the trade-ins worked just fine. I try and find those trade ins. The used market has worked well my whole life.

Consider all the folks posting on this website who state:

Are you likely to find something wrong that wasn't identified before purchase - sure. But, even the new ones have problems - sometimes major.

My thinking is that by buying used, I don't lose money driving off the lot; I do not have to fight to get a repair made because the dealer won't admit it's a warranty issue; my repair is more likely to be done quickly because they get paid to do it; and I get to take it to a repair place that I trust, not to the dealer who sold me a POS new RV in the first place.

I,d buy used .and your in the right place to find a dandy, drive the allotments and other places there just waiting for you.

On a given budget, I like to buy used but relatively recent, to get more for my money.

My late wife was from a family with tradition of buying new, and I let her have that on her car (though sometimes I got her into "demonstraters") but managed to convince her that new was not necessary for houses, RVs, vehicles for me or the kids.

Sometimes you have to buy new to get exactly what you want, when what you want isn't what most other buyers before you found adequate. In RVs, this will be the case when buying higher end, and the concept of value includes a lot more than utility.

Just like a car; if you buy new the early depreciation is fast and steep so save money in the long run with used. The only time I would buy new is if there just isn't used available in what I want. New units can have many problems and it's a high price to pay just to have the warranty.

With a 30K budget you likely won't find much in the way of new TH's. TH's are typically more expensive than non TH TT's or 5'ers. For me it would boil down to floor plan. I wouldn't buy used just to buy used and settle for something I wasn't happy with. It's only money, you'll get some more next month:)
