Great read. I am looking to replace my 14 year old worn EasyLift with the friction bar. I really like the simple Sway Pro as it has no pins to loose and is an easy and quick set up for the one night stops. I questioned the sway control of it but looks like it works. I tow where there is wind so that is important.

Well, I had some home issues that require expensive repairs so I chose to just adjust the Strait line Dual Cam system to my new F150.

It didn't work out to good. The new F150 didn't adjust to the Strait Line. I really think the issue is the 1200 lbs spring bars. I really need 1000 lbs bars but they are not available with the trunnion bar Strait line, only the round bar.

The new F150 suspension is stronger than the last and needs less help so the bars were just to strong for my tongue weight. They were really on the borderline with the last F150 on the third to last chain link, and a very steep angle at the required distance from the ground, which allowed the bars to clear the cam brackets.
The head was angled all the way down to get the bars to clear.

With the stronger suspension, the angle needed to clear the cam bracket, must of had to much angle, making it to close to the ground.

So I did end up buying the Blue Ox. My dealer was great! Price matched the internet and didn't charge me extra labor to put the new hitch on after the failed adjustment attempt. They actually discounted their pricing by $250 according to their previous parts and labor quote.

I must say the drive to the dealer with the mis-adjusted Strait-Line was bouncing/porposing everywhere and made for a terrible tow.

After getting the Blue Ox, I was towing at about 60 - 65 mph in pretty decent side winds. Pulled like a dream. Even with the P-Series tires, it was pretty darn relaxed.

Pretty happy and boy was it quiet next to the grinding and popping, startling noises coming from the Strait-Line. I always had a crowd staring when I drove around a corner with the Strait-Line.

I have had both, both on 12k+ trailers.

I liked the Dual Cam. It made the setup super stable. So much so I did not miss my Hensley, which I sent back after it self-destructed.

I know have a Blue Ox. It was a couple hundred less than a replacement Dual Cam system, but more importantly did not require any special setup if I had a major change in loading of the van like the Dual Cam did. After owning it, it's now my preferred hitch. It rides better and makes less noise, besides having simpler setup.

I have not had any sway with the Blue Ox, but I didn't with the Dual Cam, or EZ lift, or no weight weight distribution. It does NOT prevent the bow-wave effect like the Dual Cam does. However, only about 10% of the trucks I pass even cause that, and it only takes a slight steering correction when it happens.

I've towed tens of thousands of miles over three years with the Dual Cam and could not be happier.

With that said, I will go with Reese, Blue Ox, or Equalizer on our next trailer.

I'm not brand-loyal and don't like pissing matches. I think they all probably make great hitches, and I think in 2016, the Big Three all make great trucks. :E

Without seeing that bent bar, it's very possible that the bar was undersized for that tongue weight and was cranked to it's limits. Now if that bar also went under a sway, where it would be bent even more under stress, it's possible it could have been damaged.

Seeing all the happy owners here, I've got to believe that it's a good hitch. For $600, it seems like a value as well. At least that's what I'm finding them at Etrailer.

I'll be sticking to the Dual Cam for now but when I do get a different truck, I'll likely be adding the Blue Ox Sway Pro to the truck for ease of setup/installation, ease of use, and quietness. :)

Good choice! I switched 3 months ago - the Blue Ox is an amazing improvement over the old hitch, Happy travels!

So, the bend is pretty much normal. Good to know. I see that Blue Ox is sold on a certain website (don't know if it's appropriate to mention which one on this forum) that guarantees their stuff, so I guess it's got to be reliable. If I can't crank these 1400 lb bars any more to get the front of my truck back where I want it, and maybe even if I do, I'm going to look into it further. I like the design. Just wanted to know about the bars.
