Just look up the town or city you're planning to visit and it will tell you most everything one needs to know,be it crime or attractions etc..
Also
,I make it a habit to stop and chat with truckers when having a meal or fuelling to ask what goes on where before I enter the city,bad news travels fast and these guys share everything on radio,,if you already don't then having a CB might be good idea too
