New truck/new problems

I tow a 2016 Wildwood Trailer. I used to tow it with an F150 but just bought a 2015 F350. I didn't change anything with my set up other than the link I use on my weight distribution chains. I towed for the first time this weekend with the F350. I noticed quite a bit of jerking particularly on the expressway. I had the RV dealer set up my hitch for the F150 when I bought the trailer.

I noticed that the rear end of my trailer sits much lower to the ground. I assume this is because I didn't change anything with height of the ball and the F350 obviously sits much higher off the ground.

I don't have any of the original instructions for the hitch, shank, etc. Can anyone advise what I need to do?
  • Lower the hitch height on the truck? Just spitballing here....
  • Get the trailer level. It may require a new shank. You might also look under the trailer, see if the springs are under or over the axles.
  • You might have to get an adjustable ball for your receiver hitch. You can then lower the ball height to where you need it for your trailer.
  • Your trailer is tongue light with it pointing up higher up front. Once you get it leveled out or slightly tongue low, it will tow better.

You may have the stinger pointed up like I used have on my F250:

When I moved the receiver over to my 5500, you can see my trailer was tongue high:

I now have the stinger pointed down with the ball in the lowest position to get it level:
