No pressure on water lines

Dewinterizing my 2004 BT Cruiser for the first time. I had the water pump on for some time and can't seem to build up pressure. It was on for about 15 minutes. I assume there is something somewhere open. Would appreciate suggestions as to how I can troubleshoot the lack of air pressure.
  • In our 5th wheel it takes about 4 to 5 minutes to get all the air out of each faucet after the WH is full, it spits and splatters for at least 3 minutes and then slowly gain pressure.
  • My pipe strainer froze and broke. I had the same issue- pump kept going and going. Replaced pump strainer- problem solved!
  • check to make sure the water filter is not sucking air and also any connections before the pump

I have about a half tank of water in the water tank. I believe the hot water tank has been by-passed but I can't find where it is so far. Does the tank have to be completely full for the water pump to build up pressure?

I will check those items, again if I checked them before

Water heater valving would be on backside oof WH Tank inside the RV

Cold inlet and Bypass can be same valve (3-way 1/4 turn valve)

Water heater does have to fill up before pump can reach full pressure as WH tank has lots of air to displace (6,10 gal)

And a faucet needs to be open (hot/cold) to expel that air in system

Pumps can run dry just about forever.....doesn't need water as coolant cause no heat is generated. Diaphragm(s) only move 1/8"

If you used this method to winterize then be sure the small valve is closed for the feed tube that was stuck down inside the pink bottle stuff...

The water will not operate unless it doesn't have a sealed off line all the way to the water tank where the water is...

  • Didn't know about opening the faucets. I will try that for a minute or two to see if it makes a difference.
  • faucets open so there's somewhere for the air to go?

My experience has been that the pump will never prime itself until you open the faucets to let the air out.

  • Fresh water tank FULL?

    Fresh water 'FILL" valve Closed?

    Pump winterizing valve CLOSED?

    Low Point Drains Closed?

Water Heater drain plug installed, water heater FULL?

    Pump suction strainer cracked?
    Pump casing cracked?
