Oh Crumbs!!! Why? Black water running out on my floor????

Oh Gads, here we go again - another Bob story! Haha!

Have you ever wanted to scream out an expletive deletive you cannot print here? Well tonight was my time to utter more than something polite!! In fact, my vocabulary tonight would shame a trucker! Wow! Adjectives!!Didn't know I had that in me!

I'm sure many of you have read about my fun time adventures, living in the TT in ridiculously cold temperatures. Minus 34C at the worst.
In a 3 season TT.
Flipping cold anyhow.... Well, it is hard to drain unheated, uninsulated tanks in those temperatures. Somehow, ice doesn't flow.

So I just govern myself accordingly. Take it easy on the water usage, real easy. Stay out of the shower, wash dishes with a thimbleful of water and so on - you know the drill.....

Gotta brush my teeth though, so I do that in the bathroom sink. As much as needed.

Toilet? NO! Used it for solids once and some liquid in there only if I have too. Where I am set up I have a key to the shop and just go in there to use the potty. Works for me.

So, I know my black tank is nearly empty. I know that for sure. Hear me! Black tank is only partly used. And I'll leave it that way until things thaw in frozen tundra Alberta here. There is one - ahem, sit down task and a few lemonades in there. Can't be any more than a couple inches in the bottom of the tank, right? Yeah, OK, hold that thought. Hold it tight here......

It has been blinkin cold here. I don't use the shower because it uses too much water. I have been here since Jan 26. It is now 3 weeks later. I have washed my dishes, brushed my teeth a bunch, washed myself and hands in the bathroom sink a lot, but with a squirt of water.

Nothing coming up out of the tub drain yet, all is well, .....

Ran the fresh tank dry a week ago, refilled it, no problem.

Proud of myself! Grey tank is being stretched, All that teeth brushing etc. and we are still good to go.

Here is Bob with chest out, thumping on it proudly - yeehaw, look at me, still working on my first grey tank! Yahhhhh, I'm the man! :B

Well, finally got a break in the weather. Cool! maybe I can drain the grey tank. Never mind the black, I'm not using it, it is nearly empty.....

But why is it? why is it that when I open the toilet valve for a peek, there is liquid right up to the top? Why? Not using the toilet, it is empty. Hmmmmm. Well, all I can think is that ice build up and a few pee breaks at 0-dark thirty and I have an ice pyramid. Yeah thats gotta be it. What else could it be??? huh? tell me!

So tonight I turn off the pump, bleed the pressure at the bathroom sink, and hit the pedal to see if things have gone down. As soon as I open the valve, EWWWWWWWWWWWWWW! black water gushes upward towards me. Sidestep the pedal to close things off! SPLASH!! Use your imagination! Yuk! Yuk! YUK YUK!!!!Blah!

Robin Williams - here I come! Oh no! All I can visualize is Mt. St. Helens going off in my TT!!!! I have cold sweats about Robin Williams movie. Hey maybe that wasn't fake!!!!

Man I am gonna be wearing black water!!! Gross! Gag me with a spoon!

OK, plus 5C yesterday, 30 something F, 38?, time for action, Pull the drain thing and get a dribble into my 5G pail. Lets hurry it along, put a 1500 watt heater on its back on a milk crate, right under the tank close to the drain. I have a heat tape on the drain pipes. OK there.

Why is my black tank showing liquid up to the valve? Why? Something wrong with this picture....

Bathroom sink won't drain now. Hmmmm gotta be a frozen trap or... yeah must be a frozen trap. It sorta goes down, eventually.

Back to tonight after work, now 24 hours with heater on bottom of tank. Put the bucket, pull the cork, yahoo, flow is happening.

Crank on the hot in the bathroom sink, it will run in and melt the ice. Yeah go for it Bob! Just do it! (Nike?)

So I do a test, drain the grey until no more comes out, go in and run the hot into the tub and then go out and see if it shows up in the bucket. Yes! it does, I have flow happening! Stick my finger in there, yeah it is hot. Great, I can work on it now! And I can have a shower!

But why is my toilet still showing full to the top?

And I even have cranked the stat in here so the temp is mid 70's, just to keep stuff warm. gak! too hot for me, live here naked to compensate! Oops... Hey I'm alone here.

So I do all that and it seems to flow a bit but not working the way I think it should. OK, more hot water in there.

All of a sudden water gushing out all over the bathroom floor!!

WHAT THE FLIPPIN HECK?????????? Not the words I used. Believe me.

Oh GAWD man, NO!!!!! This water is very smelly and dark. Bleep bleep me!!! Black water pouring out on the floor!!! Shove the cork in the sink to stop the hot water enema to the grey tank. Flow to the floor stops to a dribble.

Sink, black water..... out of top of toilet???? huh???? does not compute..

Ewwwww don't want to touch it. I have to. Put down the pepperoni and piece of cheese I was chewing on and get after the task at hand. Grab a nearby rag and start mopping. Hands in the soup, yup, hafta!

Mop rinse in tub, mop, rinse in tub, mop, rinse in tub and so on. Oh flip, my hands are in it! And it smells bad!

OK, now I am totally puzzled. I have black water flowing out of the top of my toilet, in behind, where the water feed goes in. HOW??? WHAT??? I understand how these things work. But how does black water come out the top of the toilet when the bowl is only half full?

How does black water come out the back top of the toilet where the water hookup is? Of course I can't see the exact point of the water coming in without having my face right in under behind the top of the toilet.

Ain't happening. No, period. Not sticking my head in there. No.

Oh geez, what is going on, what is happening? How is black water coming into the place and running out the back of the toilet onto the floor? HOW???

Help me guys, help me!!

Awww man, what a mess. Insert words of choice here. They may be dark, like that putrid water gushing out onto my bathroom floor.

So I run more hot water in the sink to try and thaw a drainage path. More black water on the floor! Stop this now. Right now. Something wrong here.....

Panic strikes! I have black water pouring out on my floor and I cannot figure this out!!!

Outside, I am only draining my grey tank, after all it is full and the black is empty, or nearly so.

Desperate to stop this gross mess from continuing, I run outside in freezing temperatures, clad only in my undies and a t-shirt!!

Oh yeah, there is Bob, wearing his WalMart Haynes briefs and a t shirt, desperate to stop the black water!!

Yeah I don't care who sees me, gotta stop this black water.

I put the 5 gal bucket under there and yank on the black tank valve. It's empty, I know it is so I pull it full open with my face close, knowing not much is going to come out!

Well Mt. St. Helens goes off out of my black pipe! I reel back, to avoid the splash. Nearly bare butt in the snow and ice! I don't care!! Too late! it's going everywhere! Reach in, thump the gate valve shut. Ick! Now I REALLY need a shower! Gads, now I'm wearing this stuff!

Robin Williams, where are you????

Carefully pull the valve again and I drain bucket after bucket out of the black tank. And it is a lot of soapy water and toothpaste leftovers. ??????? Huh? C'mon, I only pooped once in there! and a few "other". tank holds a lot more than that!!

Soap........toothpaste.....What the ?

And then it hits me. Hits me like a bat across the head, it hits me!!

Bob, you stupid horses butt! Where is your thinker? Tell me? where?

Hello dorkwad, horses butt, your bathroom sink drains into the BLACK tank, not the grey!!!! Hello stupid!!!!! Duhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have looked at the bathroom sink pipe many times. I know it goes out the back of the cabinet. The drain path is right over the black tank!! Wake up peanut butter brain!!!!! Duhhhhhhhh! I really thought I had the IQ of more than a short fence post!

So, I add water to the bathroom sink, thinking it is going grey. No, it is going black!

So the more I put in there, the fuller the black tank gets.

Black tank is full baby, FULL. Bathroom sink is backed up. It isn't frozen you stupid donkey, the tank is full!!!! It's FULL!! HELLO McFLY!!!!!

Dorkwad..

But who here can tell me why black water comes out of the top of the toilet, where the water feed goes in, when I apply more water to the already full tank? This I cannot figure out...... Why is the black water coming out of the top back of my toilet? Outside the bowl??

Well, I have been mopping a mess for a while now,

I drained BOTH tanks in the pail. Black - ugh. But I had to do it. Just glad it was mostly sink water. but it still stinks.

Seeing as how both tanks are now flowing, a shower is in order! Ahhhhh yes, no baby wipes tonight! The real thing!

Out I go, take care of the tanks, put the hose in there and fill the fresh once all this is done. I gladly used a ton of nice warm fresh water when I knew I could drain it!

Going to get cold here again. Gonna freeze things again....

I am ready!! Bring it on baby!
