- RognBonExplorerOurs came from the factory with the washer/dryer combo installed. We removed it and converted the space to extra storage. However, we are never on the road long enough to need to do laundry. We carry enough clothes to last us two weeks, which is the maximum we are ever away from home.
- ljrNomadYes, regularly. As an (almost) full timer it’s required equipment for me.

"Most"? Hardly, more like "a few". For those who full time or head out for an extended period I can see the advantage but for the vast majority for whom this sport is recreational camping for a few days or even a couple of weeks a W&D is IMO only further complication one doesn't need. Thankfully manufacturers recognize this and restrict washers & dryers to just a few select models. - Nutinelse2doExplorerWhen we were weekenders, and on short, 1 week vacations, I never used the one in the coach.
We are on the road full time, and use it almost exclusively.
If we stop at a place that has nice, inexpensive machines ( less than $1.50 wash and $1.00 dry ),I will use those for the king size comforter, sheets, and small rugs.
Sound guy, we meet weekenders quite often that have monster rigs, with w/d hookups, or machines.
Huge 5th wheels, toy haulers and trailers seem to be the norm over the last couple years. - stickdogExplorerIf we were weekend campers and a two week vacation I would see no need for a W/D. We though are fulltimers and the one thing DW had as #1 on her must haves was a W/D. Our first RV was preped for a W/D and the dealer installed one for us. Our new RV also came preped for W/D and again we had the dealer install one. We have had the Splendidi combo both times DW likes the load and forget and is plenty big for a couple.
- Johno02ExplorerNot much good unless you are have FHU. Many campgrounds have coin operated washers and dryers, sure it costs a bit, but probably less than the cost of a machine in the rig, plus the extra weight and used space. I carry lots of quarters in Diabetes test strip bottles. Each hold about $7 worth. Pocket change goes in the piggy bank, quarters go into the bottles. Had to pay toll charges across the Bay Bridge-Tunnel with the quarters one time. Really pissed off the toll gate keeper with $25 dollars in loose quarters! Wasn't my fault they didn't take credit cards!!

Perhaps where you are but certainly not here in Ontario ... walk around any campground and the majority are TTs, a few hybrids, in the 19' to 23' class. My local Coachmen dealer can't keep enough in stock but as well as giving up entirely on popups he's also given up on 5ths as they just don't sell in sufficient quantity to make it worth the effort. Really, does anyone need a washer & dryer for weekend recreational camping? :R - 2112Explorer IIWe selected a model not prep'ed for W/D and regret it. I'm considering a basement retrofit.

I think you need to add a disclaimer in your statement. I agree with you when the "rv" is a travel trailer and/or small 5'ers.....but hardly for large 5'ers and motor homes (especially Class A's). I would definitely say "most" large 5'vers and Class A's come from the factory with, at least, a combo washer/dryer, and stacked washer/dryer is becoming more and more popular.
We had a combo in our 35' DP motorhome and when we were looking for a larger DP, the stacked washer/dryer was a must have. We don't "camp"... we RV, which means lots of travel and sometimes staying for an extended time at one place. Laundry mats are notorious for having dirty and expensive washer/dryers.
I can understand those who do a lot of camping for a few days or a week or two not wanting to have a washer/dryer, but for those of us who use our rv's for rving, a washer/dryer is definitely a plus.
Ron - gboppExplorerWe wouldn't buy a RV without a W/D. We have a combo now, the next one will be the stacked units
