Outdated paint scheme => Vinyl Strips?
So my trailer has about the ugliest colors, and I want to put Vinyl Stripes over the ugliness instead of painting it... I have seen some 2” strips on Amazon, but I don’t know if they would last in...

Any automotive grade paint will work, just prep the surface well or it will not adhere properly. You could just buy some decals like you originally planned, would be a lot less work.
