Pack Rats!

Does anyone have suggestions on how to deter and or remove pack rats from your TT? We stayed in a CG with a pack rat problem and now have a critter living in the sealed bottom (not so sealed as I thought it was) of our TT. Thanks

The rat bait with Warfrin in it gets any meeces that feed on it.
After they get the effects they go looking for water. They may die inside but if there is water outside and they know it they will probably go out the way they came. Warfrin won't hurt us unless we have a heart condition or most other mammals. That is why I couldn't figure the EPA pulling Deacon or did they? In Uncles Orchards, in Indiana the Rats among other critters were a major problem. Deacon got them under control. He had to fill numerous holes under the foundation where the things came in.
Put it where kids and pets won't get it anyway and now water available to them in the RV.

I quadruple the snap trap.

I had a mouse move into my camper by using the power cord a couple weeks ago. In only three days it managed to******in every drawer we had, but luckily didn't do any real damage. I have a hybrid and was praying I didnt find a hole in the canvas when I extended the bunks, but there was none.

Needless to say I bought a couple no touch snap traps and baited them with a cheese puff. Works good and the mouse has been evicted...permanently.

I know Mr. Pack Rat, he taught me a lot about getting rid of, and keeping rid of Pack Rats, and other critters.
Read all the topics.
Mr. Pack Rat

I use a Rat snap trap with a peanut wired to it, put a dab of peanut butter on the peanut.
You won't have to rebate it because the peanut will still be there. :W
You need to get the urine, and all the poop, smell out or another rat will move in. The Pine-Sol mixture, that is on the web site works well.

Had that happen with me as well. I went to a dealer to look for a remote for my old F-150... ended up paying a pretty penny for that one remote... but got two other remotes and another F-150 to drive them back home in for "gratis"...

:E That's an espesive hose..... Oh wait.. I get it......

Went to my car dealer to get a new front license plate frame for my F150 one year. Ended up buying a new one for $25000 and they threw in a truck to go with it for free....

Pack rat chewed thru propane hose on our TT while camping in AZ. Cost us $80,000 to fix it. On way out of store with parts we met the NICEST RV salesman.

A string of rope lights under the RV seems to work to deter them from coming around also.

Trap bait mixture: Mix uncooked oatmeal, peanut butter, touch of vanilla extract to a sticky consistency ( makes it hardy to get off trap w/o setting it off. Rats, mice love the scent, better than poison cause they die in bad spots sometimes.

Fresh Cab?
When I went to town to pick up some rat traps several people recommended an all natural rodent repellent called fresh cab. It is made with balsam fir oil. I was told it works great. Anyone try it yet? How does it work?

Be careful with poison. Some rats can eat it and crawl into the most difficult place to get to and die then stink to high heaven. Prefer traps.

Agree! When we moved to our current home, it had a lot of mice in the garage. DH decided to poison them, and put bait everywhere. At least one of the dying mice crawled into our Kia's engine compartment or under the dash, and died. We searched, but never could find the body. It stunk so bad we couldn't drive it. Tried all sorts of things to rid the car of the dead-mouse smell. Tried for a year... Car STILL had a faint odor. It was so bad we eventually traded the car in for a better smelling car!

I am not a fan of poison at all, even before the dead-mouse-in-the-car incident. It is too easy for the poison to kill animals that weren't targeted. Secondary animals CAN die from eating dead animals that ingested the poison.
