Paddy O'Room bought, now how to install

Does anyone have any experience with a Paddy O'Room? My sister and her husband bought one secondhand and are struggling with the installation instructions that came with it. I can't find a video anywhere which would be really helpful. She's talking about drilling holes into the camper! I don't understand how the panels attach to the awning.

Help anyone?
  • Ummm, i guess not. I take it letting people know that panel is for sale is a 'no-no'? I'll take it down.
  • Thanks for all your posts. We were able to put it up last night but discovered the awning has to be moved slightly. Turns out the awning doesn't cover the door entirely. It wasn't as difficult as we thought and since the season is almost over it won't get used til next spring in any event.
  • I wonder if they got the one I donated to Salvation Army after several attempts to put it up. :)
  • Yes you have to drill several small holes where the snaps will attach to the camper. When I first started it scared me. But if you put sealant under the snaps it is not that much different than putting in a window. You can use window sealant (Putty) or Dicor. I bought mine used and looked it up on the Patt-o-room site and downloaded the installation instructions and that made it pretty simple. First slide the room into your awning slot where the pull strap is now, then put the end walls on with the top braces. Then it is just a matter of seeing and marking the snap locations starting from the top and working down. Not hard once you get started. I bought my snaps for the camper from an auto/boat upholstery shop. Just be sure to seal both under and in the outer center of the male snap you are installing on the face of the camper. You will enjoy all the extra room this will give you.

Try looking under Patty Room and you'll find several videos @ youtube. Doesn't look as though it's much harder than a tent but I dinna watch the installation to the end (7 minute long video which sounds detailed).

  • I wish them the best on this. Every time I see people with these types of add-a-rooms they struggle getting them setup. I see very few of them being used anymore.
