Paralleling 2 Honda 2000's

Can I just buy the parallel cable for $40 to link a Honda 2000i and a Honda 2000i Companion?
Confused since I see the parallel cable for cheap, but then there are kits for $130 and $180.
Thanks for your help
Cheryl

There are two different sets of parallel cables for the Honda EU-2000i series.
One (much lower in cost) is for use if one of the generators is a COMPANION

The other (higher cost) if neither of them is a Companion

So the answer to your question is the lower cost cable only kit will work for you That is why you bought a companion after all.
  • I bought the parts and made my own. Searched around on google and found the instructions with diagrams. Works great.
  • Yes the low cost cables are fine. Especially if you have a companion with 30 amp outlet.
Usually the more expensive kits include a 30 amp outlet for the older (non-companion) set up.
  • Mayberrys.com

You have to call them for prices, if they advertize the best price on the internet, Honda will refuse to sell to them anymore.

    Good luck!

    Fred.
  • Yes, you can use just the parallel cables to join a companion type and a regular EU2000. You can use just the cables on two regular EU2000's but you will be limited by the 15 amp outlet on either generator. The $120 kits provide a 30 amp outlet and parallel cables so you can join 2 standard EU2000's. Before the companion was available a few years ago you had to buy the kit to parallel 2 EU2000's and get 30 amps. Also the 30 amp outlet on the companion generator is a standard L5-30R outlet so you will need an adapter for a rv style plug. Available at most camping stores and amazon.
