Paying for two sites

Not all CG's will allow that and no public supported CG should. Many Govt controlled CG's say you must occupy the site. If you need more privacy pick a better or private CG that will allow it.

I know a person that buys 5 spots where I have a seasonal so they have their privacy. They have done this for 5 years. Very nice people just like not having anyone close by.

This is a private campground and it works great for the owners as well. They only use water and electric for 1 rig.

We did it once with a big group and used it for the eating and hanging out spot. If I remember correctly it was supposed to be occupied by another friend that had to back out at the last minute and we all chipped in to pay him back, the cg never questioned it.

I could see why they would say no if you wanted to reserve two spots and one camper. If it's a busy cg with lots to do and many ways to spend money they will want a camper and more people on that extra site.

While I will agree for state and federal campgrounds, I will disagree with private owned campgrounds. In private campgrounds it should be up to the owner how they want to run their campgrounds.

No, it's rude. You are potentially preventing someone else from camping. It doesn't matter if the cg likes it or not. If you want privacy, then find another campground or boondock. Goes along the same lines as the folks who reserve every weekend at some campgrounds and then just show up when they can. It's very self-centered and disrespectful of others. What I would consider, however, if you get there and the cg isn't very crowded then possibly purchase the adjoining site at that time.

I don't understand the mindset of doing an activity that by definition brings you into potentially crowded conditions, then demanding no one be near you. Buy a cabin in the woods.

I'm talking State owned, and they never have a problem with it I always remind them at check in that we have the two sites and it's only twice a yr for a weekend stay

Well that would be your opinion as far as boondocking not many places here in the northeast to do so and lastly I do not book these months in advance it is usually a few days beforehand like on a Wed for a Fri arrival. Not to mention many of these are small sites that if I put my 25 ft camper on and open my slide I would just about be on the other site I think that would be more rude.
As far as demanding no one be near me that is why I would never visit campgrounds where it looks like tenement housing.

If then cg is nearly full we won't even bother calling for reservations it's when there is about half or more sites are available like this weekend out of 60 sites only 18 are rented.

Privacy, at a campground? More room, for what? Simply can't imagine. If I want privacy I'll stay at home, ditto for more room.

Do you also put up privacy curtains so people walking by can't see into your site, or do you also reserve the road so people can't saunter by and inadvertently intrude into your space? Miniature guard towers to keep out the riffraff?

The frequency and duration are irrelivant. If everyone did it, you wouldn't even get in. If the campground is booked full enough that you feel the need to do it, then you are depriving another camper of a site. If the campground was 1/2 empty, you wouldn't feel the need to do it.
