People Watching

Herself and I tend to be happy in most situations and rarely have problems. We've been RVers long enough to know how to avoid a lot of pitfalls that derail a trip.

That said, is the moon full this week figuratively speaking? Have noticed a lot of truly grumpy campers this week. Campers are either smiling or grumpy around here. One particular curmudgeon is targeting himself with his constant complaining so the happy campers are taking the occasional opportunity to "poke the goat" verbally and goad him on.

People are the best entertainment of all.

The best place and time to watch people is at a busy boat landing on a Saturday. It's a hoot!

Bring a chair, lunch and cold drinks...voila instant free entertainment!

Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you're wrong.

A mall can be good fun or revolting. It is surprising how many people do not have any mirrors in their homes to check before they head out in public.

It can be fun learning what buttons to push and watch people explode around you. Others, you just look at and know their life has been pretty miserable since they are angry all the time. Most seem to want you to feel as miserable as they are. Christmas used to be my favorite time to go to the mall and people watch. Now there are to many idiots out

The racing venues, whether NASCAR or NHRA are perfect places for this past time, many times better than the races themselves. 😉

Do it all the time. One of our favorite spots is Quincy Market/Fanueil Hall Labor Day weekend. College students are just moving in and there are lots of visitors from other worlds. Loads of fun.
X-2, we were there Mid September, & I saw some very strange sites, (people wise that is),
but then I'm sure a lot of them were whispering "Look at the Red Neck". :B

A classic at south louisana boat launch is the folks that use the motor to push the boat up the trailer. With sufficient Horsepower, I have seen boats pushed over the top into the back of pickups

And it's free! Love the happy campers. Am amused by the grumpy ones.

One of the reasons to get to a CG by mid afternoon is to be in time for the later arrivals. You know, the people who have been on the road since early. They have done hundreds of miles. They are really tired. She can't give directions. He can't pay attention to them. If they are not going into a pull through then the fun really begins.

Can't decide which is best. RV parking, boat retrieving at the ramp, after a bit of alcohol of course, or boat anchoring. All provide great entertainment.

Great memories! Thanks for sharing. I too remember those small town days. 5 cent burgers, ten cent gasoline and for very special occasions a trip to the airport to watch the planes takeoff and land. Good times.

Wife was raised out in the real country. Dirt roads, one room school houses and so on. ON Saturdays her Dad would buy a stick of bologna and hunk of cheese and crackers and bread.
They went to town on Saturdays and parked on side streets and watched all the traffic and and goings. Not necessarily watching people, just the hub bub of small town America. Lots of life going on back then with ten cent stores, Pennys, Sears and Roebucks, western Auto and countless others and all the small diners and city hall and so on. Seems kinda Beverly Hillbillies now.
People just went to town like them and walked all over, as did a whole lot more people, than many malls. A dollar bought everybody a hamburger.
I walked to town with Grand Ma or when in school with MOm and Dad, in city. At Grand Ma's I walked to town and sat in front of the Home Store with and Ornage Crush with bits of orange and ice in it and a big ole yellow moon pie. Ten cent for both. If the one or two cars in the county came by watched them, and listened to the old timers telling tales, whittling and trying to get my goat or any youngster that came along. As for watching people tried counting the dozen or so in town.

Another favorite:
Man launches boat and moves away from the dock.
Man forgot to put plug back in boat drain - the plug is in the truck.
Boat is filling with water.
Wife is filling man's ears with profanity.
Man is trying to bail frantically while yelling over wife's yelling to start the troll motor.
Troll motor won't start.
Both use hands to try to paddle back to the dock.
A Good Samaritan rushes to help at full speed.
The wake from the second boat swamps the first and it sinks 5 feet from the dock.
A great wailing, cussing and gnashing of teeth fills the air.

I was at Mason's Boat Dock in Waverly, TN on the back Waters of the Tennessee River. This Man launched his Boat. He did not hang onto a Rope or anything. His Boat floated away and he had to swim out to get it. I got a Laugh out of that one.
God Bless!
