This has been my point from jump. The idea of light to deter crime is more to sell lights and power to them than anything else.
But motion lights might be better, and for certain are much less likely to bother others.
I agree.
However, I don't necessarily agree that a motion light will be less of a bother. For me, having a motion light suddenly go on and shine in my window is more likely to disrupt my sleep than a light that was on when I fell asleep.
I see it like when my dad fell asleep in front of tv. As long as the tv stayed on the same channel, he'd keep sleeping, but as soon as you changed the channel, he was awake.
