Pet Peeves in RV Parks

At the risk of sounding like an old grouch, lets lay out our gripes about camping in RV Parks. I'm currently on Galvestion Texas for a month. Things were quiet until this truck and old camper pulled in next to me alast night. The guy is a door slamber. A constant door shut niose went on for at least two hours. He has a bunch of kids that were also loud but I can overlook that. Kids will be kids. Why didn' he leave his doors open while he set up. Then there is another neighbor who fires up a truck with loud pipes and lets it run forever. These are my two gripes of the day. Seems like every park you stay in has has the loud truck start up and idle. Part of the problem is sites are so close together. Anyone else?

I will make an admission here and surely some posting here were "That guy" at least one time in their time camping. Early on in our beginning days of camping with our new trailer we were at our 'home' resort. It has a grill and Putt Putt and playground and all that good stuff. The grill has music on all day and it's piped to the Putt Putt area too. One night we went to bed and I could hear music very faintly. I got up and stuck my head out the door and it appeared to be coming from the grill area. I called security to have them check. Went back to bed and never did hear from security but still was able to go to sleep.

I got up the next morning and went out to fix breakfast and I could hear music. I went to the outdoor speaker on the trailer and sure enough, the radio was on, the outdoor speaker was on and THAT was the source of the music all night. I apologized to my neighbor when I saw them but he said they never heard anything. It was very low volume so Thank goodness we were the only ones who really heard it.

We've all done something I would bet that made us "that" guy at least once.

I agree to an extent. Most of the time, you can just ignore the neighbor and go on with your positive camping experience.

But sometimes, the behavior is so obnoxious (drunken parties) or continues day after day after day (barking dog, loud music, floodlights, car door dinging, etc) that it intrudes into your site constantly - to the point that your brain can't not focus on it. Like an ear worm.

I turned on the LEDs on my front cap and they're almost all burnt out so I turned them off again. Maybe it's a self correcting problem.

Part of the light problem is the trend even at home to light up everything. I have a neighbor that felt the need to add a mercury vapor light on the front of the garage even thou there is already a city street light on each corner of his property.

Ron, it's peeve, not a major issue. I've been lucky and have rarely had "bad" neighbors. When one does show up, they seem to exhibit more than one of these unfortunate behaviors. The same guy that runs a leaf blower might also have landing strip lights and a barking dog. Not really surprising as all this is related to the need for attention and an entitled mentality. They are the center of the universe and we all need to see them as such, right? Fortunately, in my experience most folks would rather be courteous than offensive.
Is there a problem with running a leaf blower? I have one for things like blowing debris off the top of my slide before pulling it in. Never seen any rules against that either. Your going to have a hard time finding a campground with all these rules you need to keep you from having a bad day.

The no purpose LEDs on front caps seem to be a common peeve with an awful lot of people. Hopefully this fad will disappear from builders before too long & they will find something else to bling up an otherwise cheap unit.

It would be so nice if these lights were less intrusive by using a lower brightness & an easier on the eyes colour such as red or blue.

I don't know if their use is a regional thing at all but thankfully in my experience the use of these lights is rare. I'd take a guess & say that most of the users of these lights are newbs who have not gotten into the hang of looking around & seeing what others are or are not doing & seeing what people do to minimise the intrusiveness of their lights on others.

The only way to avoid the issues mentioned is to camp alone.
If you are camping around others you will have to tolerate some behavior you don't like.
Such as opening or closing the RV door or using the factory installed lights.
If you let these minor annoyances ruin your camping experience shame on you.....and yes as already mentioned in the opening post, the OP sounds like an old grouch,
Just because the factory installs cheesy LEDs all over the RV doesn't mean folks have to use them.:R
Does the campground have any rules not allowing use of cheesy LED lights all over the RV? If not, you might be better served by staying at one that does have such rules.

Amen bruddah.

I hear you guys, I'm not a pro lights camper. But try telling someone
with a new RV they can't use the factory lights on their new RV.

"A pet peeve, pet aversion, or pet hate is a minor annoyance that an individual finds particularly irritating to them, to a greater degree than would be expected based on the experience of others."

No one says their RV'ing experience is ruined, these things listed are pet peeves. Nothing says they have to bother you, and I certainly don't let them spoil a second of my time. This is starting to sound like when you say you don't care for someone/something, you become an instant "hater". If there's nothing out there that irritates you a touch, then you're a candidate for sainthood. ๐Ÿ™‚
