I'm not too big on indiscriminate waste locating. IMO, there is no need. The modern cassette toilets work great or fixed toilet facilities are abundant. There are also many laws on the books that are in effect at National Forests and Parks. Dig a hole or shake a bush in one of those and you may be spending a lot of money on fines and abatement.
Having said the above, I've been the owner of a few outhouses and have used the hole in the woods when hunting. I probably didn't damage the environment but, as said, there is little need to do that again.
