Sidecar, we are not talking about your farm for heavens sake but rather heavily used campgrounds.

There are also many laws on the books that are in effect at National Forests and Parks. Dig a hole or shake a bush in one of those and you may be spending a lot of money on fines and abatement.
To dispose of feces, dig a hole 6 to 8 inches deep, at least 100 feet from any water source, campsites or trails.- USDA Forest Service
When you're done, fill the hole with the dirt you dug up and place your toilet paper in a sealed Ziploc baggie for disposal in a proper waste container.
