Pulmonary Alveolar Proteinosis

My wife has to have a lung biopsy to rule this in/out.
Anybody have any experience with this?
It's very rare, .01% of 100,000 get it.
Doc says he has to be absolutely correct on the diagnosis, "I can't be wrong".

Thanks in advance.
  • It's been 3 years since she was diagnosed. She has gone through 6 Lung Lavages, painful, dangerous. On Oxygen 24/7.

2 days ago was diagnosed with Pneumonia. Sometimes PAP clears itself, that's what we were hoping for. X-Rays for Pneumonia shows that was not the case. Her PAP has advanced, if anything.

Got to give a shout out to the Pulmonary Doc who said, "I don't want to go through the training to administer that drug for JUST one person". Hypocratic Oath my fat A$$.

So, more Lavages are probably in her future and possibly a trip to Ohio for a Center that has clinical trials.

Sorry for venting. Thanks for listening.
  • Thanks for the link, Tiger.
Hopefully she's among the 75% that survive.
